When Alexa, a 2017 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, contacted me to discuss her Senior Portraits I may have let out a little squeal. While I do not know Alexa very well, I grew up with her older brothers and sister and considered it an honor that her family trusted me to document such a special time in Alexa's life! From our discussion prior to our session it was clear the vibe Alexa wanted her portraits to portray (you have to love a girl who knows what she wants!). Her overall gallery resulted in a lovely collection of fun, rustic, and timeless images.
We started our evening together at a family barn just outside of our village of Oak Harbor. Alexa's navy, printed blouse paired with jeans was the perfect contrast to the aged, red barn. I would like to make it known early on that Alexa's use of accessories throughout her session was spot on. The earrings, bracelets, and shoes she carefully selected for each outfit were never a distraction. However, each piece gave an additional layer to her overall look that merely enhanced her final images. Let's be real though...that smile makes YOU smile, right?!
Next we ventured to Pearson Park where we hoped the bountiful wildflowers would still be in bloom. Luck was on our side and we found a beautiful area to work with. This set of images are my favorite from Alexa's session. The ornate pink chair used in the following images resides in Alexa's room and is where she sits to apply her make up. The addition of the chair not only allowed for a variety of images while remaining in one location, but also gives her portraits a personalized touch!
Finally, we ended our session along the shores of Lake Erie at Maumee Bay State Park as the sun was beginning to set. The beautiful light and colors of the evening were a lovely compliment to Alexa's classy romper and fun sandals. Delicate gold accents to her outfit were the perfect touch!
With a few minutes of the sunset left, we photographed Alexa in front of the waters of Lake Erie. For her final images Alexa chose an adorable white dress again paired with gold accents. She even threw her graduation gown over her dress for a couple of playful images!
Many thanks Alexa and Mom for a delightful session! It was a pleasure catching up and getting to know Alexa a little better. I wish you the very best on your upcoming graduation from Oak Harbor High School and look forward to keeping up with you on your future endeavors!
