Hello and welcome to my first edition of "Thursday Tips"! Today's blog post is geared towards those high school students (and families!) preparing for their upcoming Senior Portrait Session. However, some of the ideas given below could easily be incorporated into your family, maternity, and engagement session. Or imagine putting one or two of these ideas to use on your wedding day! At the end of the post, please be sure to check out the images illustrating some of the ideas I am about to share with you.
During your custom Senior Portrait Session with Kelly Lindsay Photography I strive to make your session all about YOU! During our time together I really want to show off your personality in turn making your images unique to you. For my Northwest Ohio 2018 Seniors (and even those 2017 Seniors still in need of a custom portrait session!) now is the time to start planning your session so your gallery is the perfect reflection of you.
Think about your daily and weekly routine- where you like to go, what you like to do, etc. I want to get to know YOU through your images. The same images you will be sharing with family and friends. I would love for you to create a list of your hobbies and extra curricular activities...then send them my way so together we can create your perfect session.
Below is a sampling of ideas that you may want to incorporate into your session. These are just suggestions and a starting point to help you brainstorm!
Want some more inspiration? Check out the images below from some of my 2017 High School Seniors...
Oak Harbor High School Senior, Mikki, came to the Fall portion of her Senior session with an idea that brought me to tears (side note...I pretty much cry at each Senior session I do...consider yourself warned). Mikki's mother is a proud veteran of the United States Marines and Mikki opted to sport her mom's military jacket for one set of images. The kicker to this idea? Mom had no idea AND was unable to attend the session so the surprise element of these images was off the charts!
Anzlee (another Oak Harbor High School 2017 Senior) has a love for her adorable black Volkswagen Bug! It was a no brainer for us to incorporate her sweet car into her Fall session. Mom giving us the go ahead for Anzlee to sit atop the car for an image or two? Bonus!
Working with Oak Harbor High School Senior, Shannah, gave me the opportunity to photograph a pig for the first time! In the process I learned pigs have a love of marshmallows and in fact Shannah was treating her sweet pig to one in the image below. Side note...this was Shannah's most "LIKED" image I shared over on my Facebook page and one Mom ordered plenty of wallets of!
Proud Oak Harbor Rocket, Jake, is a member of both the golf and baseball teams. We pulled off some incredible images showcasing his involvement in both, but this baseball portrait was one of my favorites!
As an Oak Harbor Senior this past Fall, Katelyn, proudly lead the Oak Harbor Marching Band. I loved hearing about her "later" start with the program and the success that has since followed!
Fellow Oak Harbor 2017 Senior, Alexa, brought along this stunning pink chair to her summer senior session. This pink chair is the same one that sits in her bedroom and she sits in to apply her makeup. Super sweet, right?
2017 Norwalk High School Senior, Tieler (Tie for short), is an accomplished, beautiful dancer. We took to the streets of downtown Sandusky, Ohio and created magic.
2017 Oak Harbor High School Senior, Jacob, proudly represents Oak Harbor on both the football and wrestling teams. We were able to feature his dedication to both during our sessions together.
